Alligator Snapping Turtle

Baby Snapping TurtleLast Friday, Grant found a baby alligator snapping turtle. It was the size of a mouse. He wanted to keep it, but I vetoed that idea so he let it go in the creek that runs through campus. Keeping it as a pet meant I would have to take care of it, and, frankly, I do not have any fingers to spare.  Since Mom does not know what an alligator snapping turtle is (obviously she must not since she asked why I didn’t want to keep it) I thought I would post a few well-chosen pictures.
