About a Bode
By chance Sheryl and I ran into a person involved with our dog Bode’s previous life. Bode is a terrier-mix (shown in left picture) we adopted in the summer of 2004 from the Champaign County Humane Society. When we adopted him they could not provide medical records, identify his mix, or even tell us his age.
Every week we take Bode shopping with us. This involves placing him in a shopping cart and pushing him around with the items we plan to purchase. Often, he peers over the side, on two legs, as way to coax young children into giving him some attention. This weekend we placed Bode in an orange shopping cart and were about roll him into Home Depot, when we heard someone shout BLACKIE!?
Blackie was our dog’s name before we had adopted him and changed it. The woman and daughter that had exclaimed this name were Bode’s temporary custodians that put him up for adoption. When Bode’s previous owner had fallen ill, the church asked this woman and her family to take care of him. Since Bode’s owner did no get better and the family did not have the resources to take proper care of him, they decided it was best to relinquish ownership. The two were very excited to see Blackie/Bode again and that he had found a loving home. The daughter even told us a story of Bode devouring an entire plate of almond cookies that she had prepared for her classmates. Sheryl and I had so many questions about Bode and hoped they could provided some answers. At the end of the encounter, the woman promised she would call us and provide the name of the vet where we could pickup Bode’s old records. I will keep you posted on what we find out.

Home depot’s new slogan: Home Depot – Reconnecting the past with the present. THat is really weird, but I am glad that you are going to be able to find out some more about his history.

That’s pretty exciting. Most people track their family’s history/past, but not you guys. Did you grant them visitation rights?
